Caffè Monte Baldo recognited as "Ristorante tipico di Verona"
Our tavern (Osteria), present in Verona since 1909, is already well known by the Veronese as a typical restaurant, always basing its offer on foods, wines and typical dishes of Veronese cuisine. Not all readers will know, however, that the Typical Restaurant of Verona has, since some years, been an official recognition granted by the Municipality of Verona and, we believe it is an excellent reason to choose the "rewarded" establishments as a reference point for eating in Verona.
To obtain this award, as per "Municipal regulation for the enhancement of Veronese food and wine" it is in fact necessary to distinguish itself as a restaurant which, through the quality of the service and the professionalism of the staff, spread the knowledge of Veronese food and wine.
How do you recognize an award-winning restaurant?
Two years ago in 2017 our Osteria Caffè Monte Baldo was awarded from the Municipality of Verona, a great satisfaction for those, like us, have always been committed to spreading local food culture and the social value of the traditional Verona's osteria (tavern).
The prize is immediately visible from the street as a metal plaque, affixed to the outside of the tavern, which certifies that the requirements established by the aforementioned Regulation have been exceeded, certified by checks carried out by a special commission that assessed our restaurant.
On what parameters does Caffè Monte Baldo become a typical restaurant in Verona?
In the restaurant's menu, traditional dishes must represent at least 50% of the gastronomic offer and be prepared using 50% of typical products from the Province of Verona or the Veneto Region as Pastissada, Pandoro cake, Polenta, Codfish "alla Vicentina" and much more..

The "wine list" must favor at least 50% the denominations from the Province of Verona DOC, DOCG, IGT as Amarone della Valpolicella, Soave, Lugana, Recioto etc..and / or Community PDO, PGI; c. fruits and vegetables should preferably be in season;

Finally, the extra virgin olive oil used must be produced locally according to the DOP Community protection.
Do you know that a "typical Restaurants of Verona" has to made a special dish every season?
For each season (Winter, Spring, Summer, Autumn), the Typical Restaurants of Verona offer a dish of their choice, using one of the Veronese food products (fruit, vegetables, game, fish, etc.) identified by the commission and keeping them on the menu for about two weeks. In this way stimulating the direct relationship between farmers and restaurateurs.
