Aperitif in Verona @ Caffè Monte Baldo

Why come in Verona? Verona, Italy, is an effervescent city with a vibrant nightlife scene. Here the pre or post work aperitivo (aperitif), is a serious business! In Verona you’ll find many delightful places to enjoy your vacation between roman ruins, medieval buildings, centenary bridges over the Adige river and at the same time, a modern city where spend days with friends over glasses of wine in superb aperitifs.

An aperitif at Osteria caffè Monte Baldo. Tartine, salami and a good bottle of red local Valpolicella wine. Thanks @lapatt.y

What is the real Veronese aperitif? It is the possibility of enjoy a large selection of local wines (Valpolicella, Soave, Bardolino, Custoza, Amarone della Valpolicella etc etc...) by the glass, paired by tartine, canapés or cicchetti: simple and delicious food preparations made by slices of soft milk bread topped with meats, fish, cheeses, vegetables and sauces. Every wine has its right cicchetto for the best pairing!

It is customary to "take the aperitif on your feet", on the counter, or outside in the streets, enjoing this happy moment with a good chat with the innkeaper or your friends at the osteria's doorstep and patio. Aperitivo is the best moment to meet together, locals, students and visitors alike.

What is the right time for the aperitif in Verona?

In Verona, a city where the love for wine is second only to that of being together, there is no just one right time for the aperitif but rather chose carefully the "right places" to meet. Anyway, best hours are 19.00 - 21.00 every day and 10-12 in the morning at Sundays.

At the Osteria Caffè Monte Baldo, we take the Verona style aperitivo very seriously since 1909 :-)

Old-fashioned and lived by local people, Osteria Caffè Monte Baldo is the kind of place where you’ll drink a good glass of Amarone della Valpolicella at the rosè marble counter while eating a tasty tartina, a crunchy balls of fried eggplant or a small dish of fried venetian sea food.

A blackboard on the osteria's enthrance will introduce you to a list of more than 30 wine labels available by the glass, with a lot of locals and premium wines. To enjoy old vintages we proudly use Coravin(tm) device.
